International Representation

Physicians’ Advocates offers unique legal services in the field of international law and enjoys close European contacts, especially in France. Mr. Bond has been representing French and American clients in international business matters for more than fifteen years and has a well-developed set of contacts in both countries. Indeed, much of his international work involves consulting for other lawyers on cross-cultural issues and assisting them in closing cultural gaps to assure successful ongoing relationships.

Physicians’ Advocates is especially proud to have Georges Halpern, M.D., Ph.D., as its International Consultant. A professor emeritus at U.C. Davis, Dr. Halpern is known throughout the world as a researcher and immunologist, as well as for his extensive knowledge of international affairs. Complementing the firm's outstanding expertise in medical and product liability questions, Dr. Halpern is particularly helpful to our pharmaceutical clients in creating international liaisons for research and development. As Commander of the Mérite Agricole, Dr. Halpern's expertise on import and export matters is also of value to our international clients. The firm has a correspondent office in France located at 17, Rue de la Paix, Paris. Through our Paris correspondent, the firm is affiliated with Eurojurist, a network of attorneys in the major cities of Europe. Maitre Francis Teitgen of our correspondent firm has recently served as bâtonnier of the Paris Bar.

We offer our clients a level of comfort and individual attention that bridges cultural differences and smoothes the process of creating successful international business transactions for all the parties involved. Because of our familiarity with the languages and customs of Europe, India and Asia, we can help translate not only the legal content, but, more importantly, interpret customs and cross-cultural experiences, thereby making business transactions go more smoothly.

Our firm's international law practice, therefore, is that of a counselor-advisor and confidant to a growing number of international clients. We act as general counsel and cultural translators. If circumstances arise that require particular expertise beyond the scope of this firm, we use our resources and contacts to identify and retain the precise services needed by the client.
